For that Special Occasion Check out The RickHouse

photo(1)Needing a special night out?  If you are looking for a unique dining experience the RickHouse in Bardstown Kentucky is a MUST try!  It was a little tricky to find but was defiantly worth the trip.  Upon entering, it made me feel like I was in a “fancy” bourbon warehouse with a rustic feel.  Thick brick walls with cozy alcoves made for a unique dining experience.

On the menu you could order several different cuts of steak, pasta, chicken or seafood dishes.  Everything sounded great, but I settled on the Crab Cakes and a side of 11 cheese macaroni and scalloped potatoes.  While we waited, fresh bread dripping in butter was served and our glasses were never empty.  The meal was great and the atmosphere was truly unique.  It’s not your everyday restaurant but a great place to go to celebrate that special event and they cater too.  photo(2)

Have you eaten here?  What did you think?  Would love to hear about your experience too!

Exit Realty Crutcher at Joe Huber Farms

Exit Realty Crutcher At Joe Huber FarmsJoe Huber's Farm
Exit Realty Crutcher had a fun day recently at Joe Huber Farms.  Several met from our Louisville office and had a great lunch at the Winery, and enjoyed some time together with our new addition to the team, Travis Durham -who kept us all laughing.  He doesn’t know a stranger and introduced Exit Realty Crutcher to several people there enjoying lunch nearby.  Others in attendance were Cindy Crutcher, Nita and her daughter, as well as Mindy, Cindi, Beverly Smith, Bejoy Koshy and Larry Hayes.

There are several different things to do at Joe Huber’s Farm and we tried to participate in what they offer from picking apples right off the trees in the orchard, to wine tasting at the winery.  You can also schedule a tour of the Winery to get a behind the scenes view of the daily operations.  They have a great gift shop where you can purchase their wines, glasses and many more items.  They have a cheese and Ice cream shop where you can get some of their cheeses to take home or enjoy an ice cream while seeing all they offer at Hubers.  Be sure and visit the Produce store where you can buy fruits and vegetables from the orchards as well as fudges, breads and lots of other items sure to please even the toughest critics!  Pumpkins are in season now and you can pick your own from the fields or purchase some in the produce store too.  Be sure and plan a trip with the family soon!  Let us know your favorite thing to do at Hubers Farm!

Must See Places In Nearby Nashville Tennessee

Must See Places In Nashville Tennessee
ImageOne of the benefits to living in Kentucky is you are within a days travel
to many surrounding states to include the beautiful state of Tennessee.

Recently, at the suggestion of friends, we visited the Parthenon in Nashville which is a full scale replica of the Parthenon in Athens.  Inside you can find the statue of Athena Parthenos, a full scale replica of the original. She stands 42 feet tall and has more than eight pound of gold leaf on her as well as lots of  color making it something to marvel at.  There are also many sculptures that are replicas of the originals found in London’s British Museum. You are surrounded by works of art that remind you of the finer things in life.

ImageBe sure to look up The Parthenon if you are in Nashville. I will definitely visit again someday.  It’s reasonably priced at $6 and I think well worth the money. You can also visit the lower level art gallery where you will enjoy a variety of beautiful works of art on display.

Kentucky State Fair 2013

Kentucky State Fair 2013
kystatefair2013

Had a great evening recently at the Kentucky State Fair and thought I would share a few things we enjoyed.  There is definitely something for everyone at the State Fair and once again, I was overwhelmed with all the people and things to do this year.  First off, I love the balloon sculpture when you first go in.  This year it was a basketball court with UK on one side and U of L on the other.  It was truly a work of art and enjoyed by everyone no matter which color you wear! I wish I could have gotten a better photo because it really was awesome.

Inside, the arts and crafts and cake and quilts and produce, well, it was all really obvious that a lot of heart goes into all the entries.  We enjoyed the boardwalk area outside where you can play games, ride rides and eat things like Bacon Sundae’s and deep fried Twinkies, Dill Pickles and Snickers Bars.  There were Red Velvet Elephant Ears too which was new to me.  They smell just as good as the regular ones too!  We choose Mike Lennings tent to eat at since we rarely take the time to go to the restaurant and were not disappointed by the huge portions and great food.  They had deep fried spicy pickles that were actually sweet and spicy pickle chips and were pretty good. They had live entertainment while we ate too.

Back inside we found one of my favorite places, the petting area where they had animals from a horse, donkey, pigs, lama, rabbits and baby ducks which are my favorite!  And on stage, every evening there were different performers. This year they didn’t disappoint with an appearance from Duck Dynasty stars and Country Music legend’s The Oak Ridge Boys, Montgomery Gentry and Christian music by Casting Crowns. If you haven’t been yet, there is still time with just a couple more days.  Take the family and start a new tradition!
